Facial volume loss is one of the most common concerns raised at cosmetic consultations, and one of the least understood. It is not only about the skin. From our thirties onwards, the fat pads that give the face its shape gradually shrink and shift, the underlying bone slowly loses density, and the skin produces less collagen and hyaluronic acid. Together these changes flatten the cheeks, deepen the folds beside the nose and mouth, hollow the temples and under-eye area, and soften the jawline.

Because several layers are involved, the most useful first step is an assessment rather than a treatment. At a consultation Damien looks at how the face has changed as a whole, which areas contribute most to the concern, and what a balanced, natural result would look like for you. Options to restore volume and improve skin hydration are then discussed, along with their risks, expected duration and cost.

Some options involve prescription-only medicines, which cannot be advertised in Australia. All cosmetic procedures carry risks, and individual results vary. Cosmetic procedures are not provided to people under 18.
